Bio-Sulforaphane Advanced®

NAPPI CODE:

COYNE HEALTHCARE

Sulforaphane is a natural plant compound derived from many cruciferous vegetables, including cabbage, cauliflower, kale, broccoli and broccoli sprouts (by far the highest source).

This disease-fighting phytochemical enhances the body’s natural detoxification process, thereby protecting you from environmental threats in the air you breathe, the food you eat and the water you drink every day. You are constantly being exposed to a barrage of chemicals that don’t belong inside your body – and these chemicals can take a toll on your overall health and wellness if they’re not processed properly.

Benefits

Coyne Healthcare’s Bio-Sulforaphane Advanced® is a next-generation, highly bioavailable, concentrated source of broccoli phytonutrients. Rich in sulforaphane to support the activation of the Nrf2 genetic pathway (a powerful detoxifying cascade), this product is a 100% whole broccoli sprout concentrate yielding cell-protective compounds. Its potent formulation has been produced using technology that optimises the sulforaphane yield. This ability to produce high levels of sulforaphane when ingested is what makes Bio-Sulforaphane Advanced® capable of reducing inflammation, enhancing detoxification and stimulating the body’s antioxidant defenses at a cellular level.

How it works

The body’s natural detoxification system operates in two phases:

  • Phase I: When chemicals enter your body, certain detoxifying enzymes break them down them into metabolites, which may still be potentially harmful. An easy way to imagine these metabolites is a broken piece of glass with “rough edges”. If these “edges” aren’t processed further, they can interfere with normal cell function by damaging cellular DNA, proteins and lipids.
  • Phase II: Additional detoxifying enzymes process the potentially harmful metabolites into water-soluble compounds, which can be excreted from the body easily.

Sulforaphane helps increase the production of important detoxifying enzymes in Phase II, thereby supporting the elimination of potentially harmful metabolites. Research has shown that this compound also supports the body’s defences against oxidative stress and cell damage –and offers numerous health-promoting benefits, likely due to its positive effect on multiple cellular pathways.

Why supplement sulforaphane?

Since sulforaphane is associated with cruciferous vegetables, many people think they can get all the benefits of this miraculous compound simply by eating their vegetables. Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple, as sulforaphane itself isn’t found in broccoli. Rather, it’s the essential ingredients glucoraphanin and myrosinase that are present in the plant – and, depending on seed quality, soil composition, plant age, and other factors, these compounds may not, in fact, be present in high enough quantities to allow for adequate sulforaphane production. Cooking broccoli also typically destroys the myrosinase enzyme, thereby limiting the production of sulforaphane.

Primary benefits of sulforaphane

    • Supports cellular detoxification: Sulforaphane increases the production of certain Phase II detoxifying enzymes. In doing so, this compound prevents common environmental toxins from damaging your DNA, proteins and lipids.
    • Promotes long-lasting antioxidant activity to reduce oxidative stress: Oxidative stress occurs when there is an imbalance in the production of free radicals and your body’s ability to neutralise them with antioxidants. Free radicals – which can damage DNA, proteins and lipids – are byproducts of your normal metabolism and can also be derived from certain environmental toxins. Sulforaphane boosts the natural production of antioxidant enzymes that reduce oxidative stress, thereby acting indirectly as an antioxidant.
