Home APOA2

APOA2 plays a complex role in lipoprotein metabolism, insulin resistance, obesity, satiety regulation, and atherosclerosis (the build-up of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls) susceptibility.

If you carry the C-allele in the gene, then you are predisposed to lower plasma concentrations of ApoA2. This variation is associated with a higher BMI, greater kilojoule intake, and insulin resistance when saturated fat intake is high. It is important for you to consider your FTO and MC4R genotypes when making daily health choices.
