DRD2

The dopamine receptor DRD2 functions to regulate the synthesis, storage, and release of dopamine.

The CC- allele is associated with normal dopamine receptors (DRD2).

The A-allele is associated with increased DRD2 signaling. This can mean an increased risk of establishing opioid dependence, more likely to develop alcoholism, and reduced performance in working memory and maintaining attention.
