INSR (Insulin Receptor) is a protein-coding gene that transcipts for the binding of insulin or other ligands to this receptor activates the insulin signaling pathway, which regulates glucose uptake and release, as well as the synthesis and storage of carbohydrates, lipids and protein.

Variations in this gene have been associated with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome).

The following nutrient cofactors have an agonist (a substance that binds to a receptor inside a cell or on its surface and causes the same action as the substance that normally binds to the receptor) effect on the INSR gene: grape seed extract, berberine and pterostilbene.
