TCF7L2
The TCF7L2 gene (Transcription factor 7-like 2) encodes a protein that has been implicated in blood glucose homeostasis. TCF7L2 gene polymorphisms are strongly associated with type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and insulin-related phenotypes, most likely via impaired beta-cell function and insulin secretion. TCF7L2 polymorphisms have also been associated with body mass index (BMI) and CardioMetabolic Syndrome.
If you carry the TT -allele in this gene, you are more predisposed to increased fasting glucose and HbA1c levels associated with T2DM.
When planning your daily health choices it important for you to consider your PPARG, FTO, SLC2A2 genotypes too.
